Ex-army man jailed for hunting wild birds

Joypurhat: A mobile court sentenced a retired army member to three months’ jail for possessing an air gun without permit and hunting wild birds with it in Akkelpur upazila on Friday, reports UNB.
The arrestee is Golam Rabbani, 43, of Puratan Bazar area of the upazila.Golam Rabbani was caught red handed while he was hunting wild birds on Akkelpur-Joypurhat road in the area during a mobile court drive, according to officials of the local administration. Later, executive magistrate Golam Md Shahnewaz sentenced him to three months’ jail under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2012 and seized the air gun.
