Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday said d a tribunal will be formed after Eid-ul-Fitr for quick disposal of the cases filed against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for ‘instigating’ arson attacks during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s movement, reports UNB from Kushtia.
“The Prime Minister has clearly stated that no one is above the law. Khaleda Zia has led the killings of over 150 people in the recent dreadful fire attacks for over 90 days,” he told reporters after inaugurating a new building of a school in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia.
The minister further said, “Killing people in fire attacks is mass killing like that of the 1971. Khaleda Zia is accused of committing such crimes. So, a tribunal will be formed after eid to try Khaleda in this connection.”
Inu, also the president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, said the investigations in the cases filed against the BNP chief in connection with violence have been completed and chargesheets also given in some cases.
“If Khaleda Zia can prove her innocence, she will do politics. Or else, she’ll have to go to jail quitting politics,” he observed.
