Shubhashis, Taijul waiting for T20 debut

Rookie paceman Shubhashis Roy has been included in the 15-member Bangladesh squad for the first T20 International against the hosts New Zealand yesterday.
The opener of the three-match series will be played at the McLean Park in Napier on January 3.
Shubhashis Roy, who recently made his international debut with one day, just three days back against the New Zealanders at the Sexton Oval in Nelson, acquired the faith of the team management by taking one wicket off 45 runs in his 10-over quota.
Roy was named with left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who is a regular member of Bangladesh in Test, already played 11 Tests along with four one day for Bangladesh but he has not played any Twenty20 International yet.
Spin all-rounder Shuvagata Hom joined Tajiul in the tent of Bangladesh, who made two changes with a hope of tasting their first victory over the home side at Napier from the last ODI squad, which lost the just concluded three-match one-day international series by 3-0.
Spin all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz and leg-spinner Tanvir Haider made way for Taijul and Shuvagata.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who ruled out with the hamstring injury from the one day series after the opener, has not placed in the T20 opener.
Pace spearhead Mustafizur Rahman returned to T20 following one day after his surgical operation.
Fast bowler Rubel Hossain also got a recall to play the first T20I after a 28-month-long hiatus. Last time he played for the national side against the West Indies at the Warner Park, Basseterre in St Kitts in August 2014.
Promising youngster Mosaddek Hossain will go for the second match after making his debut in a T20I against Zimbabwe at Khulna in January 2016.
Bangladesh led by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza last played in T20 cricket in March 2015 in the ICC World T20 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India in where they lost against high-ranked New Zealand by 75 runs.
Bangladesh had played four T20Is against New Zealand since 2010, but failed to register a single win.
The second and third matches of the T20 series will be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on January 6 and 8 respectively.
