UK professor meets DU VC
Dr Kamyer Mehran, professor of Queen Mary University of London, UK called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique at his latters office on the campus on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they discussed about the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes between the Dhaka University and Queen Mary University of London, UK, a DU release said. They also agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon. Dean of the DU Engineering and Technology faculty Prof Rafiqul Islam, former Professor of DU Physics department Dr Ajoy Roy and Assistant Professor of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department Dr Mohammad Ismail were present at the meeting, among others.
Seminar on legal issues held at RU
Rajshahi: A seminar on contemporary legal issue organised by the Faculty of Law of Rajshahi University (RU) was held at the senate building of the university yesterday.
Barrister M Amirul Islam, a prominent senior lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court and also one of the framers of the Constitution of Bangladesh, addressed the function as the chief guest.
ANM Wahid, chairman of the department, presided over the programme while Md Mahfuzur Rahman, assistant professor of the department conducted it.
Amirul Islam presented his key note over International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh in Global Perspective: Significance of Domestic Trial of International Crime.
Prof Md Hasibul Alam Prodhan, and KMS Tareq, assistant professor of the department presented their notes at the programme separately. Shahriar Parvez, assistant professor of the Law and Land Administration department of the university kept welcome speech.
Rajshahi University School and Collegecelebrates golden jubilee
RAJSHAHI: The golden jubilee and the alumni association reunion of Rajshahi University (RU) School and College were celebrated yesterday.
RU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mizanuddin as chief guest inaugurated a two-day programme by releasing balloons and pigeons on the school playground around 10am yesterday. Later, teachers, former and current students, officials of the department brought out a colorful procession with huge enthusiasm that ended at the starting point.
Prof Ansar Uddin, director of Institute of Education and Research (IER) and also convener of the Golden Jubilee and the Alumni Association, presided over the programme while a discussion and cultural programme were held at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium.
