Make Ctg a commercial capital in truest sense: Ctg Samity

Chittagong Samity-Dhaka yesterday placed an eleven-point demand, including the formation of a law, to build Chittagong as the country’s commercial capital, reports UNB
The Samity also demanded establishment of an authority to enforce the law, once enacted, and help turn Chittagong into a commercial capital in the truest sense.
Chittagong Samity-Dhaka general secretary Nasir Uddin placed the demands one behalf the organisation at its annual ‘Mezban and Milon Mela (reunion)’ held in the capital that offered a way to bond with people over a spiciest meal.
The Samity also demanded immediate implementation of Dhaka-Chittagong double-line railway with the introduction of high-speed train services.
Building deep seaport at Sonadia-Matarbari on priority basis was also there among the demands placed by the Samity.   
Earlier, speakers at the function called for joint efforts raising above political differences and regionalism for the development of Chittagong and turning it into a global city and expedite the country’s overall development.
Politicians, businesspeople, social workers and journalists also said development of Chittagong means development of the country. Chittagong Samity-Dhaka hosted the daylong event – Mezban and Milon Mela. The six-phase event began in the morning with Samilty President M Abdul Karim in the chair. Former general secretary M Gias Uddin Khan conducted the event.
Samity general secretary Nasir Uddin, former general secretary Syed Nurul Islam, Saifuddin Mohammad Khaled and Jahangir Alam Khan, among others, spoke on the occasion. A number of prominent singers, including Kanak Chapa, performed at the closing session of the reunion. Around 12,000 people joined the annual Mezban.
