Father ‘kills’ minor son
RAJSHAHI: A father has reportedly killed his minor son by pressing a pillow on him in Darshanpara village under Paba Upazila of the district early yesterday morning, police sources said.
The deceased was identified as Adnan Hossain, 6.
Police arrested his father Jashim Uddin from the place of occurrence.
Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Paba police station, told journalists that Jashim Uddin might have
committed the heinous crime over family feud. During preliminary interrogation, he confessed about the killing, the OC added.
A case was recorded with the police station in this connection.
3 youths held with liquor
SYLHET: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three young men in possession of huge foreign
cigarettes and liquor from Dhopadighirpar area in the city on Friday night.
The arrestees were identified as Pervej Bhuiyan, 36, son of Rahman Bhuiyan, and Sadek Miah, 30, son of Mostafa Miah, both residents of Baroshala village, and Ismael Miah, 22, son of Mirash Miah, a resident of Monglirpar village in Sadar upazila.
Rab-9 sources said tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested the trio at night.
The law enforcers also recovered huge foreign cigarettes and liquor from the spot.
A case was filed in this connection.
9 robbers arrested
Detectives arrested nine alleged members of a robber gang, including ringleader Ibrahim, from Diabari area in the capital on Friday night.
The law enforcers also recovered four tolas of gold ornament and local tools for committing robbery from their possession. Identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Muntashirul Islam said tipped off, a team of DB police conducted a drive in Diabari area under Turag Police Station and arrested the nine robbers at about 11:30 pm.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested gangsters reportedly revealed that they were members of an inter-district gang of robbers.
They were involved with various robbery incidents in Ashulia and different areas of Dhaka city and Narsingdi district, the DC said.
