‘Boost livestock farms to meet nutritional demands’

BSS

RAJSHAHI: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda has called for boosting livestock farms for meeting up the gradually mounting nutritional demands, reports BSS. He also urged all officials and researchers concerned to come forward and work together to improving living and livelihood condition of grassroots people.
The state minister made this observation while visiting Regional Artificial Insemination Centre and Cattle Breeding Laboratory at Rajabarihat under Godagari Upazila of the district yesterday. He observed that wide-ranging expansion of artificial insemination of cows could be the effective means of significant achievement in improving the cattle breeding system to meet up the gradually increasing protein demands.
He says emphasis should be given on successful expansion of the activities among the farmers in both the urban and rural areas as its demands are gradually increasing.
Large-scale promotion of the livestock sector is very important to remove the existing protein deficiency alongside ensuring food security. Artificial insemination has a vital role to play in expansion of the cattle breeding and the program could be expanded successfully if all the villages are brought under the coverage. The technology helps increasing milk production by one kg from every cow on an average for the last couple of years.
State minister Narayan Chanda says the unemployment problem in the region especially in its rural areas could be reduced to a greater extent through making the dairy farming popular in the grassroots level. All the government and non-government organizations concerned should work together to attain the cherished goal.
