Nasir cracks maiden double century

Nasir Hossain hogged the limelight by hitting his maiden double century in the National Cricket League (NCL) yesterday. The national discard flayed the hosts Sylhet Division to help Rangpur Division earn a big lead on the third day of the fifth round in Tier-2 match at Sylhet Divisional Stadium. 

Nasir was out on 201 after smacking 24 fours and three sixes in a knock in which he played 343 balls as Rangpur took a 126 runs first innings lead after declaring the innings on 398 for nine.
At stumps, Sylhet were 44 for three, meaning they are still trailing by 82 runs with seven wickets at hands. Abu Jayed Rahi who showed an impressive performance during the BPL-4 as Dhaka Dynamites players snapped up five for 112 but couldn’t stop Nasir from giving his a handsome lead which kept Rangpur on course of a victory.
Resuming the day 175 for five, Nasir helped Rangpur overcome Sylhet’s first innings total 272 in a flash of moment. In the process, he converted his overnight century to a double one. He was ably supported by Suhrawardi Shuvo who made 78 runs. 
Chittagong Division sniffed a victory against Rajshahi Division at its home ground Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium after stretching their lead to 314 at the end of the third day’s play in another Tier-2 game.
After bowling out Rajshahi for 230 and earned an 85-run lead, Chittagong were 229 for three at stumps. Tasamul Haque who hit a century in the first innings, was not out on 59. Yasir Ali was also unbeaten on 78. Tasamul and Yasir combined for an undefeated 133 runs for the fourth wicket after Chittagong was reduced to 96 for three.
Tushar Imran’s brilliant 141 runs however was not enough to give Khulna a lead over Dhaka Division at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium as they were shot out for 342 in reply to Dhaka’s 366 in Tier-1 game. Tushar hit 19 fours in his consecutive centuries in the last two matches. He became the first Bangladeshi  batsman to notch up 20t first class century. With a slim 24 runs lead, Dhaka ended the third day on 103 for three. The match however still is evenly poised with any team could take the upperhand on the last day. 
Marshal Ayub made 54 runs as Dhaka Metro were 138 for four at stumps against Barisal Division in Tier-1 game at BKSP-3 ground. At the end of the day three, they were into lead of 150 runs. Mehrab Hossain Junior and Mohammad Ashraful were batting on 30 and 20 runs respectively.
Resuming the day 165 
for five, Barisal were wrapped up for 280, conceding 12 runs lead. Apart from youngster Al Amin Hossain, their middle couldn’t stand tall amid the carnage of Metro bowlers. Al Amin drove the innings in middle order single-handedly by scoring 89 runs. At lower order, Salman Hossain hit 55 runs which helped Barisal limit the Metro’s lead to 12 runs just. Fast bowler Abu Haider Rony and left arm spinner Elias Sunny claimed four wickets apiece.
