Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Shajahan Mahmood yesterday said they will be able to assess the service quality of mobile operators as they have procured necessary equipment for it, reports UNB.
The measurement process will start soon, said the BTRC chief at a views-exchange meeting with reporters at his office.
He said the quality of their service was earlier measured based on reports provided by them, and now it will be automatically done with the equipment.
Now, we will be able to reduce the harassment of customers which they faced in buying different mobile packages and stop call drops, said Shahjahan.
The BTRC chairman also said the equipment will measure call drops, receive level, mean opinion core, call setup time, call success rate, quality of service, technical faults, date exchange rate and other parameters of their service and overall figure of their service.
Earlier on July 14, 2016, a deal was signed with Anite Finland Ltd for buying the equipment.
The deal included the supply of installation and commissioning of a backpack/ handheld, portable and six based, QUS (Quality Understanding Service), measurement tools with scanner for voice, data and video service of 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE, CDMA and WiMAX. The total cost of the equipment was US$ 2, 93,500.
Allowing the measurement by the equipment, the BTRC will provide ranking for the mobile operator companies in accordance with their services. It will be now easier for us to take action against them, the BTRC boss added.
He also said the government will launch 4G service and inaugurate Bangabandhu Satellite in November next.
