A mobile court disconnected over 700 illegal household gas connections in Hotapara area under Sadar Upazila in Gazipur on Thursday.
Titas Gas authority in association with the district administration conducted the drives in the area. The court also and fined two restaurants Tk 1.2 for using illegal gas connections.
Engineer Sabber Ahmed Chowdhury, Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, Gazipur regional office, said a mobile court, led by Gazipur sader upazila nirbahi officer Mohammed Ashraf Uddin conducted drive in Hotapara area on Thursday and disconnected more than 700 household illegal gas lines. They also seized about 2500 meters of pipe, gas riser and other materials used for illegal gas lines.
For using Titas gas illegally in the restaurants for a long time, the court also fined manager of ‘Mohammedi Restaurant’ Borhan Uddin Tk one lakh and sentenced him one month jail for not paying fines and Abul Kalam, manager of Kalam Restaurant, Tk 2,00,00 and sentenced him 7 days jail for not paying fines.
On the other hand, the court also fined ‘Mohammedi Restaurant’ Tk 20, 000 for selling expired products. General manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, Gazipur regional office engineer SM Abdul Wadud, manager Eng Sabber Ahmed Chowdhury, were present during the operation.
