The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment and Forest Ministry yesetrday recommended bringing amendment to the Brick Manufacturing and Brick Kilns Establishment (Control) Act 2013 as complexities arose during execution of the law, reports UNB.
The committee said the amendment to some provisions of the law is needed to make it more applicable, realistic and implementable.
The parliamentary watchdog came up with the recommendation at its 29th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with the committee’s chairman Mohammad Hasan Mahmud in the chair.
At the meeting, the parliamentary body discussed the brick kiln law, successes of the recently-held COP-22 and what should be the next courses of action for Bangladesh regarding climate change.
The committee members will visit rubber gardens to gather experience about processing and marketing system of rubber. They will also place a report about the tour in the committee’s next meeting.
Besides, it suggested the ministry take necessary measures to make permanent the job of all technicians who have long been working in various projects including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park.
Committee members deputy minister for environment and forest Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, Nobi Newaz, Md Yahya Chowdhury, Tipu Sultan and Merina Rahaman attended the meeting, said a Parliament handout.
