Lotus, Pantho elected DCAB president, GS

Rezaul Karim Lotus, special correspondent of The Daily Star and Pantho Rahman, senior correspondent of the Channel-I, have been elected president and general secretary of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) respectively for the year 2017, reports UNB.
The annual general meeting (AGM) and election to the 11-member executive committee were held at the Jatiya Press Club yesterday.
Other elected office-bearers are vice president Salam Jubair (Sangbad); joint secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Mishu (Jamuna TV); treasurer Nurul Islam Hasib (bdnews24.com) and office secretary Jesmn Papri (banglanews24.com).
Five elected members are Masud Karim (The Daily Jugantar), Angur Nahar Monty (News24 TV), Aminul Islam Mirja (BSS), Sanaul Haque Dolon (ATN Bangla) and Touhidur Rahman (The Daily Janakantha).
All the office bearers were elected unopposed except president and vice president.
Lotus won against The Independent special correspondent Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan while Salam Jubair defeated Khurram Zaman.
Earlier, the DCAB AGM was held at the same venue with outgoing President Angur Nahar Monty in the chair.
Outgoing general secretary Pantho Rahman and treasurer AKM Moinuddin presented their annual reports at the AGM.
Senior journalist and chief election commissioner M Shafiqul Karim conducted the elections.
