2 ‘robbers’ lynched

Two suspected robbers were killed and another was injured in a mob beating at Agdhalla village in Mirzapur upazila of the district early yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Komol Das, 50, of Kula village in Gurudaspur upazila of Natore district, and Shariful Islam, 56, of Pakullah village in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail.
Officer-in-charge of Mirzapur Police Station Moyen Uddin said a gang of 7-8 robbers stormed into the house of Dulal Dewan at Agdhalla village around 3:30am and looted valuables taking the house inmates hostage.
Hearing their screams, local people rushed to the spot and caught three of the gang members while they were fleeing along with the booty. Later, the mob gave them a good beating, leaving the trio injured. Police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Mirzapur Kumudini Medical College Hospital where Komol and Shariful died around 11 am, said the OC. A case was filed with Mirzapur Police Station in this connection.
