Four establishments fined 
A mobile court fined four organisations, including two restaurants Tk 1.30 lakh, in the capital yesterday for various irregularities including unhygienic environment, reports UNB.
The mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate of Dhaka district Administration Tanzila Kabir Tropa, conducted a drive at ‘Hazi Amin Sweets and Bakery’ at Carmichael Road of Baghabari in Mirpur and fined its manager Md Shohagh Mia Tk 60,000 on charge of storing products without BSTI license.
The mobile court also carried out drive at New Market, Elephant Road and Hatirpol areas and fined Tk 30,000 to Md Khalid,  the manager of ‘Sharma Kebasis House’, Tk 20,000 to manager Kazi Azadur Rahman of ‘Lobster King restaurant’ and Tk 20,000 to manager Md Zahirul Islam of ‘New Bhai Bahi Store’ .
Armed Police Battalion-5 assisted the mobile court, while Deputy Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Md Abdul Majis and Assistant director Fahmina Akhter were also present during the drive, said Assistant Superintendent of police (ASP) Md Saidur Rahman Rubel of APBn-5.

JU BCL gets new committee
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has announced a two-member new committee for its Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit on Tuesday night.
Student of JU Geography and Environment department Jewel Rana and student of Anthropology department SM Abu Sufian Chanchal of academic session 2009-2010 were made president and secretary respectively, central BCL Secretary S M Jakir Hossain confirmed this.
Initially, names of top two posts-president and secretary-have been announced for next one year tenure while the full-fledged committee of the university unit will be declared later.

Workshop on admin role protesting disabled women 

RAJSHAHI: A workshop titled ‘Role of district administration and civil society to protect women and children with special needs’ was held at NGO Forum Training Centre in Rajshahi city yesterday .
Samata Nari Kolyan Sangstha (SNKS), a rights-based development organization, hosted the workshop in association with Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) and 'Promotion of Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Bangladesh through Disability Inclusion Project'.
The meeting discussed ways and means to mainstreaming the disadvantaged population with GO-NGO collective efforts for improving their living and livelihood condition. President of Rajshahi Bar Association Nazmus Sadaat and Programme Officer of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust Advocate Samina Begum addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with SNKS Programme Officer Akter Hossain in the chair.
