A teacher of Dhaka University’s Political Science department has been dismissed on charge of sexually harassing a female student.
The university syndicate took the action against Amran Hossain, an assistant professor of the department, at a meeting on Tuesday following a probe report, syndicate member Farid Uddin Ahmed said yesetdray, reports UNB.
Besides, the Syndicate suspended M Omar Faruk, an associate professor of the DU Islamic History and Culture Department, on charge of plagiarising his PhD thesis.
Campus sources said a female student of the DU Political Science Department lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Amran about three months ago.
Following the allegation, a probe panel was formed to look into the matter while the accused teacher was sent on forced leave.
