Newly-married woman killed ‘by husband’

A woman was killed allegedly by her husband at village Hossainpur in Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh early yesterday. Police arrested the husband, police sources said.

The deceased was Shimu Akhter, 19, daughter of Mustafizur Rahman of Hossainpur.
Quoting family and locals, Badrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Ishwarganj police station said following a love affair, Shimu got married Rakib Mondol, 21, of the same village some 40 days ago. 
Since the marriage, Rakib, an unemployed youth used to demand dowry from Shimu’s parents and as Shimu denied the demand, there had been a feud over the issue between the couple, the OC said quoting Shimu’s father Mustafizur Rahman as saying. 
Around 3am yesterday, Rakib took Shimu to Ishwarganj Upazila Health Complex as she fell ill seriously. Later she died at the hospital around 4am, police said. 
No injury mark was found on her body, the OC informed. 
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Victim’s father lodged a murder case against Rakib yesterday noon.  
‘We are investigating into the incident’, the OC informed.
