Teachers demand new pay scale

Teachers and employees of MPO-enlisted non-government educational institutions yesterday demanded their inclusion in the newly announced national pay scale, reports UNB. The demand came up at a human chain organised by Shikkhak-Karmachari Oikyajote in front of Jatiya Press Club.  Acting secretary general Zakir Hossain said the government is creating discrimination among teachers depriving non-government teachers and employees from the upgraded pay scale. He said it will be impossible to develop the education sector depriving some six lakhs teachers. Speakers also demanded immediate release of Shikkhak-Karmachari Oikyajote president Principal Selim Bhuiyan,  who was arrested six months ago.
