800 phensedyl bottles seized 
RAJSHAHI: Police recovered 800 bottles of Indian phensedyl syrup from Jahajghat Mijaner Mor area in Rajshahi early yesterday.
Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and intercepted a private car at about 3.00am. However, the driver and passengers of the car managed to flee the scene. Later, police recovered 800 bottles of Indian phensedyl syrup after searching the vehicle. A case was filed in this connection.

Drug peddler held with yaba  
CHITTAGONG: Police arrested a drug peddler with 20,000 yaba tablets from Polo ground area of Chittagong on Saturday night. 
The arrested was identified as Abdur Rahman, 20, son of Farid Alam,  hailed from Taqnaf upazila of Cox's Bazar district.  A team of Detective Branch (DB) police raided in front of Railway Public School of Polo ground area in the city at around 11 pm and arrested a drug peddler. Police also recovered 20,000 yaba tablets from his possession. A case was filed in this connection.

Two crushed under train 
GAZIPUR:  Two day labourers were crushed under the wheels of a speeding train at Pubail in the city on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Nur Mohammad, and Hasmat Ali. Officer-in-charge of Bhairab Railway Station M Abdul Majid said Nur and Hasmat were walking on Dhaka-Chittagong rail track at Pubail College Gate around 12pm when a train arrived from their opposite direction. Seeing this, the two workers moved to the adjacent track without noticing that another train was coming through that track and subsequently were run over by the train. Later, the two labourers were taken to the hospital where doctors declared them dead.

Girl killed in road accident 
A minor girl was killed in a road accident in Kotwali area in Chittagong on Saturday.
The deceased was Kamrun Nahar, 9, daughter of Osman Gani of Moizzartek area in the port city. “While the victim was waiting in the area along with her mother for vehicle, a bus ran over the girl around 11am,” Kotwali Police sub-inspector Md Shahjahan. “A minor girl was brought by locals and its mother Kamrun Nahar at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital in critical condition where on-duty doctor declared her dead.
