South Africa middle-order batsman David Miller believed they need to keep up their high intensity to wrap up the series today when they take on Bangladesh in the second ODI.
The visitors got an effortless victory in the first match, thanks to a record feat by debutant fast bowler Kagiso Rabda who became the second bowler to take hat-trick on debut.
“They (Bangladesh) are not going to go down without a fight. They’ve done really well beating India and Pakistan. We know that they’re going to be up for a good fight tomorrow and we are as well. We know it is going to be great challenge and we have to be at our best,” Miller said.
He said despite expecting a tough fight from Bangladesh, they look to wrap up the series by sticking to their basics.
“That’s what we love to do. Obviously (we look) to wrap up the series tomorrow,” said David Miller, who earned his national call-up in May 2010 after a series for South Africa A against Bangladesh A, where he was the second-highest run-scorer.
The hard-hitter batsman said that they are busy in honing their skills and techniques before facing the wounded Bangladesh.
“We’ve been challenged. It’s been tough conditions. Bangladesh are playing really well at the moment. Obviously (they’ve) done well in the last couple of months. But for us we just want to concentrate on what we need to do. To really get the job done on whatever area it bowling, batting or fielding. We’re just concentrating on our game,” the 26-year-old batsman pointed out.
About the new rules for the shorter version games, Miller, who is well-known for his stroke-making capabilities, said, “There have been a lot of different rules in a year or two years. So it’s just about trying to adapt quickly as I can. I think if there are more fielders up than we can get more singles if there is less fielders up than we can get more boundaries. About adapting whatever comes in our way and be switched on and be on good positions.”
“I’m just going to wait and see. Definitely it’ll make a difference in the last 10 overs. It’s going to create different opportunities for the batsmen. Look for different areas of the field,” he said, adding, “Like lot of people said probably it’s going to help out the bowlers but we have to wait and see off the year and see whether it is really helping. The batters are adapting really quickly as well as the bowlers. It’s going to be a good competition.”
