28th Rabindra Sangeet Utsab ends at Public Library today

The three-day 28th Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Utshab (National Rabindra Sangeet Festival), organised by Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha (BRSSS), will end today. Earlier on Thursday, the festival began at the Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library in the capitals Shahbagh with the slogan Jodi Dukkhe Dohite Hoy Tobu Mithya Chinta Noy/ Jodi Doinya Bohite Hoy Tobu Mithya Kormo Noy/ Joy Joy Satyer Joy.
On the opening day, the programme began with the rendition of the national anthem followed by two chorus songs O Amar Desher Mati and Bertho Praner Aborjona by the artistes of BRSSS.
Presided over by BRSSS president Tapan Mahmud, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the festival as chief guest, while Sajed Akbar, general secretary of the organisation, delivered the welcome speech.
After the inaugural ceremony, a cultural show was held where Kaderi Kibria, Avik Dey, Shwapnil Shojib, Ashiqur Rahman Ashik, Chanchal Khan, Rana Sinha, Promod Dutta, Nakul Chandra Das, Anandita Ray, Sima Sarker, Tanjina Toma and others rendered solo songs, while Joyonto Ray recited poems.
Yesterday, the second day of the festival, Pallabi Dance Centre staged Tagores famous dance-drama Shapmochon alongside musical performance by Tagore singers. In the course of the programme, the organiser felicitated Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Syed Hasan Imam.
Today, on the closing day of the festival, Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Singer Abdul Jabbar will be honoured. Todays programme will start at 4pm.
