College girl ‘kills self’ in Rajshahi

Rajshahi: A female student of Rajshahi College allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the college hostel under Boalia Police Station in the city yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Nazma Khatun, 25, daughter of Abu Taher of Joykrishnapur Talibazar area in Durgapur upazila. She has just completed her Honours degree from the college and was waiting for enrolling into Master’s. College Principal Prof Habibur Rahman said Nazma used to live in room-155 of the hostel along with another roommate who went home several days ago.  As Nazma’s room was locked from inside till noon, other hostel inmates started to knock the door. As they did not get any response from her, they entered the room breaking open the door only to find Nazma hanging from a window grille.  On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Police also recovered a suicidal note from the room.
