Over 2,000 telephone lines disconnected in capital

Nearly 2,098 telephone lines of Bangladesh Telecommu-nications Company Limited (BTCL) in different areas in Uttara and Azampur were disconnected due to snatching of its primary cable, reports BSS.
Both telephone and internet have been out of connection in Shamubag, Kanchkurar Chalaban, Dakkhinkhan bazaar, Tetul Tala, Balur Math, Yasin Super Market, Super Market, Hazipara, Muktijoddha Sarani, Kancha Bazar and Brac Market areas as 4800-pair primary cable was snatched during the development work of the roads and highways department, said a BTCL press release yesterday.
BTCL is working for the reinstatement of the disconnected telephone lines and expecting to make those active within seven days.
BTCL authority regretted to its valued customers for the unexpected inconvenience, the release added.
