Dhaka stocks rebound

The major price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached yesterday at about 24-month high which maintained record high like the last session of previous week, reports BSS.
DSEX, the major price index of DSE, added 31.01 points over the week at 4956.73 which was the highest after January 13, 2015 when it closed at 4,969.73. But the blue-chip DS30 ended over 9.36 points down at 1796.64.
The average daily trade volume increased by 6.5 per cent to 30.22 crore shares when the value surged by 2.3 per cent to Tk 934.51 crore.
Out of the 329 traded securities, 189 closed higher against 112 losing issues when 28 remained unchanged.
The five major gaining companies included Zeal Bangla, IDLC, Emerald Oil, CMC Kamal and Eastern Lubricant. The five major losing companies included Progressive Life Insurance, NHFIL, MARICO, Savar Refrigerator and Jamuna Oil.
The top five turnover leaders were BBS, Apollo Ispat, Square Pharma, Saportl and Lafarge Surma Cement. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 81.41 points higher at 15249.08.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased significantly.
Both the stock markets were down further on Wednesday with all the indexes sliding down as most of the major sectors closed lower while daily transactions were declining.
The major DSEX index of DSE decreased by 6.83 points to close at 4,924.34, when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES finished the day by 5.61 points down to 1791.58 and 0.72 points down to 1166.62 respectively on Wednesday.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished Wednesday’s session in red, with major CASPI index closing 23.02 points down at 15,138.87.
