Confce on business management held
Uttara University has organised a three-day long International Conference on “Business Management, Economics and Social Science –ICBMESS 2016” from Wednesday at The Westin Dhaka, Gulshan, Dhaka, says a press release.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahamed inaugurated the conference as chief guest. Uttara University, Bangladesh, AMDISA-(a SAARC recognized forum), India and GBMF, USA jointly organized the programme. The programme was chaired by Professor Dr M Azizur Rahman, Vice-chancellor, Uttara University. Professor Dr Yasmin Ara Lekha, Pro-vice-chancellor, Uttara University, Ms. Naomi Watanabe, Writer, Director of Ship Aichi Medical Service Limited, Dhaka, Bangladesh , Professor Dr. Ziaul Huq , University of Nebraska , Omaha, USA & Founding President of GBMF,USA, Professor Dr Prithvi Yadav, President, Global Business and Management Forum(GBMF), USA and Director- NMIMS ,Hydrabad , India , Professor Lakshman R. Watawala ,President of AMDISA & President , Institute of Certified Professional Mangers, Colombo, Sri Lanka have participated the programme as special guests.
Two EWU students achieve success
Two students of East West University (EWU) achived awards at the 3rd Winter School on ‘Genocide, Justice and the Issue of Impunity’ organised by the Centre for the Study of Genocide and Justice (CSGJ) of the Liberation War Museum (LWM) from December 13 to 20 at the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMCO), Dhaka, says a press release.
A total of 32 students of various disciplines from 18 universities, including of Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Nepal, and Bangladesh, participated in this residential workshop and training programme. Esrat Jahan Siddiki, student of the Department of Law, East West University (EWU) achieved the ‘Academic Excellence Award’ and Jannatul Shareat Disha, student of Department of Law, East West University achieved the “Best Performance in Non Judicial Hearing Award’ in the said programme. Dr Mohammad Farashuddin, chairperson, Board of Trustees of East West University, and Prof MM Shahidul Hassan, vice-chancellor of East West University, congratulated the winners for their outstanding performance.
IUB students win debate competition
Students of the School of Life Sciences at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) won a debate contest.
The contest was organised by The American Society for Microbiology and BRAC University, and co-sponsored by icddr,b and ideSHi on ‘Microbes: Friends or Foes?’ The competition held on December 19, 2016. Students from team IUB—Lulu Maknun Samiha, Bushra Anjum, and Muntaka Maniha Mithi successfully argued in favor of ‘Microbes as Friends” while competing against students from Jahangir Nagar University.
Lulu Maknun Samiha also earned the prize for ‘Best Speaker”. The debate was judged by renowned professors of Dhaka University, Prof Syed Saleheen Qadri from the Institute for Development of Science and Health Initiatives, ideSHi and Professor Niyaz Ahmed, Senior Director, LSSD, icddr, b. The event was conceptualized, inaugurated, and supervised by Dr Firdausi Qadri, ASM Ambassador to Bangladesh and Acting Senior Director, Infectious Diseases Division, ICDDR, B. Chief Guest Professor Rita Yusuf, Dean of the School of Life Sciences at Independent University, Bangladesh delivered the closing speech at the event, in which she talked about significant advances in biomedical research made in just the last year and the implications these hold for a not so distant future.
