Hajj pre-registration begins from January 15 
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman on Wednesday said the pre-registration process of hajj those who are interested to perform their Hajj will begin January 15 next.
"The government has taken all necessary steps to complete the pre-registration process in a smooth manner," he said while inaugurating a training programme for the officers, employees, agents and other concerned with registration process at the Airport Ashkona Hajj Camp in the capital. The minister said in line with the Saudi Arabia government, Bangladesh government has introduced the Hajj e-service for the first time.

Minor girl drowns in Ctg
A minor girl drowned in a pond at Amuchia village under Boalkhali upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased was identified as Sabhia, 1, daughter of Azgor Ali, hailed from Amuchia village under Boalkhali upazila of the district. Police and family sources said Sabiha, slipped into the pond while she was playing in the yard of her parent’s residence. Locals and family members rescued the victim in an unconscious condition and took her to Boalkhali upazila health complex, where the attending doctors declared her dead.

US embassy holidays
The US embassy in Dhaka will remain closed on December 25 and January 1 on the occasion of Christmas and New Year's Day respectively.
The closure also includes its consular section, The American Center with the Archer K Blood American Center Library and the Education USA Student Advising Center, said a press release.. American citizens, those need emergency services, are requested to call (02) 5566-2000 and ask for the Duty Officer.

Annual geneal meeting held
