KHULNA: The half-completed Khulna Modern Railway Station is going to be inaugurated with the first Moitree train trip on the newly built Khulna-Kolkata route on the first day of the new year, according to project officials, reports UNB.
To this effect, they said, the Railways Ministry issued an order to officials concerned to complete the construction work on platform No. 2 and the ground floor of the Station Building by December 31, said Project Director (PD) M Ramjan Ali. The remaining construction work will be completed by June next year, while the inaugural ceremony will be held later, Ali, also the Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Railways West Region, added. Khulna railway station master Quazi Amirul Islam said the ticket selling process for the first journey by Moitree will start nine days ahead of the trip.
Visiting the under-construction railway station, the UNB correspondent found the construction work going on in full swing to meet the deadline set by the ministry.
The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) approved the project on January 26, 2014 and the construction work began in April, 2015.
