Man jailed for arranging child marriage

Shariatpur: A mobile court on Monday sentenced a man to 15 days’ jail for arranging the marriage of his underage daughter at Baghia village in Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon, reports UNB. The convict is Idris Mrida of the village. On information that a class IX girl - Sharmin Akhter - was going to be married off at the village, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ziaur Rahman went to her father’s residence in the afternoon. The UNO then set up a mobile court and handed down the punishment to Idris.
