GAIBANDHA: Livestock offices of the district vaccinated 1,08,552 cattle heads and 9,13,400 poultry birds here from July to November, 2016 to save themselves from different diseases all the year round, reports BSS.Not only that, 51,911 cows and goats and 3,91,403 chicken and ducks were provided treatment form different diseases including Anthrax, Black quarter, PPR and Ranikhet from the seven upazila livestock offices during the period, Livestock officer said. Apart from it, the offices are playing significant role to boost production of domestic animals and poultry birds in farmers' level to attain the cherished goals of the department.For this, a total of 3,52,256-day old chicks and 75,416 duckling were distributed to the farmers side by side with giving artificial insemination to 23,555 cows during the time, said an official.As many as 92 poultry farms, 80 duck farms, 79 cow farms, 62 goat farms and 79 sheep farms had been established here at the direct supervision of the livestock offices of the district in last five months of the year, he also said.District livestock officer Dr. Abdul Latif said some 39 biogas plants were also set up here after the farmers were motivated by the field level officials of the department.
