The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday stayed bail of suspended mayor of Sylhet City Corporation, Ariful Haque Chowdhury and Habiganj Municipal mayor GK Gaus in two separate cases, reports BSS.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Md Nizamul Huq passed the order, accepting two separate pleas of the state and sent the matters to full bench for hearing on January 2, 2017. "The apex court stayed their bail till January 2, 2017, as the full bench is scheduled to hear the matter on that day," said defence counsel M Masud Rana. Earlier on December 11, the High Court granted Ariful six months bail in a case for carrying out bomb attack in Awami League rally.
