Nasim urges nurses to serve patients sincerely

Health and Family Welfare affairs Minister Mohammed Nasim yesterday urged the newly appointed nurses to serve patients considering them as their family members.

“Nursing is a noble profession so you should devote in the profession with utmost sincerity,” the minister said this while addressing a rally of newly appointed nurses at the country’s different hospitals, at Krishibid Institution in the capital. The minister said posting of newly recruited 10,000 nurses in the month of victory is a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At the same time, the minister promised to appoint 3000 more nurses in the different hospitals across the country.   
Nasim, also the presidium member of the ruling Awami League said the government has been working relentlessly to reach the health services to the doorsteps of people. 
Describing serving people as the prime duty of nurses, he said nurses should not show any negligence as the salary and allowances they get comes from the common and poor people of the country.  Earlier, the minister talked to nurses, who newly joined in different districts across the country and gave them different directives through video conference.
Nasim handed over the certificate to Nasima Khatun, a student of Rajshahi Nursing College, who secured first position in the midwifery certificate course examination of first batch. 
State Minister for Health Zahid Maleque, Public Service Commission Chairman Dr Mohammad Sadiq, Additional Secretary of Health Ministry Subas Chandra Sarker, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery Mostafa Sarwar joined the function with Health Secretary Sirajul Islam in the chair.
