A young man died in police custody at Jamalpur General Hospital on Sunday night, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, 19, son of Rehan Ali, a resident of Pahari Patal village of Melandaha upazila in Jamalpur. Mazharul Karim, officer-in-charge of Melandaha Police Station, said a team of the law enforcers arrested three young men including Sohel in the evening along with 25 pieces of yaba tablets and 5gm heroin from Hazarabari area in the upazila. Later, Sohel fell sick in the custody at night and was taken to Jamalpur General Hospital where he died around 9.30pm. Family members alleged that police tortured Sohel after arrest.
