Khaleda urges Nganj people to vote for BNP
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has urged the people of Narayanganj city to cast their votes for sheaf of paddy, the party poll symbol, to elect party mayoral candidate Sakhawat Hossain in the upcoming Narayanganj City Corporation elections slated for Thursday. I am happy to learn that massive support has been built up in Narayanganj in favour of the BNP candidate and the party electoral symbol. My appeal is to translate this support to the ballot box, she said in a press statement issued last night. The former premier also called upon new voters, mothers and sisters, elderly persons and other citizens including people belonging to the Hindu and other religions community to cast their votes for the BNP candidate by reaching the polling centres on time and to encourage others.
In the statement signed by Khaledas press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, the BNP Chairperson regretted that she could not go to Narayanganj and take part in the city corporation election campaign, despite having the interest, due to her engagement with attending the courts, physical illness and other urgent matters.
She called upon the citizens of Narayanganj as well as the leaders and activists of the BNP and 20-party alliance remain patient and maintain peace in the face of any provocation.
The BNP chief called upon the Election Commission, local administration and the law enforcers to maintain a peaceful and congenial atmosphere in Narayanganj on the polling day and days before and after the polling. She termed the NCC polls very important to restore the voting rights and other rights of the people.
