Mohammad Ashraful resumes his career with National Cricket League (NCL) following the end of his three-year domestic suspension that was slapped for his involvement in match-fixing in BPL-2.
Although he played so far three-round games of the league he could bat only in one match for Dhaka Metro. He made 26 in first and two in second innings.
In the wake of the inclement weather and BPL-4, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) postponed the league after the conclusion of the three-round games.
The league yet again rolls onto the ground at the four different grounds across the country today. But Ashraful was not sitting idle in this long-lull. He played in Narayanganj League, Sirajganj Premier League (SPL-T20), 50-over practice match against U-19 in Mirpur and friendly match for World XI in Qatar during the gap.
Of them, he batted outstandingly against U-19 team in Mirpur, where he clattered 115-run innings that boosted up him mentally. Ashraful spoke to the media after their practice session at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday when the top-order batsman desires to play big innings in the next rounds of the league.
“I played so many games on the stroke of the BPL. I played four matches in Narayanganj League and 13 matches in Sirajganj Premier League. I also played a practice match against U-19 and friendly match for World XI in Qatar. Overall these matches will be helpful for me,” said Mohamamd Ashraful.
“I will once again start National Cricket League. There were some good innings what I played in the meantime. Now I’m in good shape. I believe that if I could start well then I’ll try to play big innings,” Ashraful told reporters.
Today Dhaka Metro will face-off Dhaka Division in the Tier-1 match of the league at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah, while table-toppers Barisal Division will compete against Khulna Division at BKSP-3.
Elsewhere, at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, Rajshahi Division will take on Sylhet Division, whereas Rangpur Division will lock horns with Chittagong Division at Sylhet International Stadium in the Tier-2 matches.
Recalling the memory of a match against Rajshahi Division at Fatullah, the 32-year-old batsman said that he won the match by hitting century in first innings and half-century in second innings.
