Fugitive war criminal Gazi Abdul Mannan of Kishoreganj died at his relative’s house in Kanchpur area of Narayanganj district early Monday, reports UNB.
Gazi Abdul Mannan, who was awarded death penalty for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj district, breathed his last around 4.30 am at the age of 80, said Zakir Rabbani, officer-in-charge of Karimganj Police Station. He had been on the run since arrest warrant was issued against him.
Earlier on May 3, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) awarded death penalty to four people, including Mannan, and jail unto death to another for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in Karimganj upazila .
ICT found all the seven counts of charges, including mass killing, murder, confinement, torture, arson and looting, pressed against them proved.
