Although Bangladesh U-19 cricket team lost to Pakistan by one wicket in their third and last group encounter they emerged Group-B champions in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2016 in Sri Lanka.

Now Bangladesh will face-off Group-A runner-up, the hosts, Sri Lanka U-19 Cricket Team in the second semifinal of the meet at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on December 21.
By losing the match, the point tally of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan became identical as they claimed nine points each. But Bangladesh and Afghanistan progressed to the next round of the semifinals due to better net-run rate.
Afghanistan U-19 cricket team on the other hand will lock horns with defending champions India at the same venue on December 20.
Back to match, Pakistan invited to bat Bangladesh first after winning the toss on the surface of the Galle International Stadium yesterday. Bangladeshi youths managed to score a moderate 230 in 49.5 overs largely thanks to vice captain Afif Hossain Drubo’s outstanding 80.
Although they lost opener Mahidul Islam Ankon cheaply Afif piloted Bangladesh innings by stitching together a sting of partnerships. He hit 43-run with skipper Saif Hassan for the second wicket and 77-run with Mohammad Rakib for the fifth wicket stand while they were on 177 for five in 42.5 overs. Saif fell for 32, while Rakib chipped in with 42.
The vice captain smashed 94-ball 80 that studded with eight fours and two sixes before being caught off Muhammad Mohsin Khan by Umer Khan.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Muhammad Hasnain, Nasir Nawaz and Umer Khan snapped up two wickets each for Pakistan.
In reply, Pakistan got off to a solid start through their openers-Muhamamd Zaid Alam and Muhammad Mohsin Khan. The duo made 86 runs for the opening stand before breaking the well set partnership. In the gap of five runs, both opening batsmen walked back to the pavilion with Alam making 50 and Khan scoring 29.
Together with skipper Nasir Nawaz, Abdullah Shafique thereafter struck 58-run for the third wicket.
Bangladesh buoyed up their hopes of winning the match when they removed Waqar Ahmad, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ali Zaryab Asif in the space of eight runs while Pakistan were 24 runs away from victory.
Later Saad Khan and Muhammad Hasnain partnered and Hasnain ensured the victory for Pakistan with boundary. Saad remained unbeaten on 18, while Hasnain was on four not out.
Shakhawat Hossain and Afif Hossain picked up two wickets each for Bangladesh.
