Taking part in open discussion of a round-table meeting in Rajshahi yesterday, development activists, professional leaders and students unequivocally called for building large-scale mass-awareness and social responsibility to prevent child labour, reports BSS from Rajshahi.
They viewed all owners of factories and industries should come forward and work together to eliminate the child labour for protecting their legitimate rights.
The present government is very much positive towards eliminating the child labour.
Ladies Organisation for Social Welfare (LOFS) and World Vision Bangladesh jointly organised the discussion titled “Our Responsibili-ties to Prevent Child Labour” at Top That Chinese Restau-rant in the city.
Deputy Inspector General of Department of Labour and Factories Inspection Kamrul Hassan and Deputy Director of Department of Social Service Rubina Yeasmin addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Azizur Rahman, vice-president of LOFS, in the chair.
Assistant Director of Department of Youth Development Abul Kalam Azad, Programme Officer of World Vision Debasish Snal and Executive Director of LOFS Shahnaz Parveen spoke on the occasion sharing their experience on the issue.
The discussants termed the children as the future power of the nation and called for ensuring equal rights.
All the children need teaching of positive family and social values side by side with the institutional ones.
Child rights are a major issue, which covers their education, health, nutrition and entertainment needs.
“If the country can ensure women-friendly and child-friendly environment then the child rights will be easily ensured,” they said.
