Expand technical education for national development: Speakers

RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a conference here recently stressed on expanding of technology and engineering education coupled with improvement of its research is imperative for taking forward the nation, reports BSS.
"The entire world has attained remarkable improvement with breakthrough of significant expansion and development of electrical, computer and telecommunication," said Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) as chief guest.He was inaugurating a three-day 2nd international conference 'ICECTE 2016' in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) here.
RUET's Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty is hosting the event titled "Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications".
RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg spoke as chief patron while Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam Sheikh and Prof Dr Abdur Razzaque from the faculty as technical chair. The ICECTE aims at focusing the rapid strides and technological advancements in electrical and electronics engineering in recent years.
It aspires to open a forum for technical excellence and exchange of technology between technocrats, research scholars, and representatives from the academia and industry.
Besides the host country, a large number of participants from the universities of Australia, Germany, China and Malaysia are attending the conference. Prof Mannan said engineering and technology play pivotal role in the development of today's world.Widespread research and innovative practices are propelling the world to a new plateau of development.He expected that the conference would provide an ample opportunity to academicians, engineers, professionals, researchers, specialists and students from home and abroad for sharing to curve the engineering challenges leading to sustainable development.
