400-kg ‘jatka’ seized in Barguna
BARGUNA: Members of Coast Guard, in a drive, seized 400 kilograms of jatka (small hilsha fish) from Laldiya Char under Pathorghata upazila of the district yesterday morning, reports BSS.
Being informed, a Coast Guard team intercepted a trawler on the char and seized the jatka, Coast Guard official said.
The owners of the hilsa fry, however, managed to flee from the scene sensing the presence of the team. Later, the jatkas were distributed to the distress people this noon.
Body recovered in Natore
NATORE: Police recovered the body of a small trader from Chalk Goas village under Bagatipara upazila of the district yesterday morning, reports BSS.
The victim was identified as Niranjan Kumer Sarker Nira, 55, son of Shasti Sarker of Chalk Tokinagar village under Bagatipara upazila of Natore. Being informed, police recovered the body from a mango orchard of the village. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagatipara Thana Monirul Islam said the body was sent to Natore Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Training for journalists begins
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Mymensingh

A two-day training for journalists organised by Mymensingh Press Club began at its auditorium yesterday.
The training programme titled “Terrorism and Militancy: The Role of Media” was assisted by Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB). PIB trainer Jilhajj Uddin Nipun and advocate AHM Khalequzzaman were the resource persons at the training programme. Earlier, deputy commissioner of Mymensingh Md Khalilur Rahman, also club president inaugurated the programme.
Mymensingh Police Superintendent Syed Nurul Islam, club secretary Md Babul Hossain, its vice-presidents-Prof Mahmud Jahangir Hasan and advocate Md Mozammel Haque; addressed the inaugural session, among others.
