‘Drunkards’ vandalise Hindu Idol

A group of ‘drunkards’ vandalised a Hindu idol at Purba Courtbari village of Sirajdikhan upazila of Munsiganj on Friday night. However, Talking to The Independent, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shaila Farzana claimed that the incident ‘was not a communal one’.  “No responsible person should carry out any false report that may trigger communal violence,” she told this correspondent. Some local youths, mostly from the Hindu community, got drunk and in the state of intoxication some of them accidentally damaged an idol at a local temple, the DC added.
