Special Envoy to the Prime Minister and Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad yesterday favoured for enacting necessary law to constitute Election Commission (EC) , reports BSS from Rangpur. “Though there is no similar law in Bangladesh as well as in India--- such a law could be effective to constitute an independent and neutral EC,” Ershad said while exchanging views with JP leaders and journalists here at Circuit House conference room.
Ershad said that his party leaders would meet President Abdul Hamid soon to submit the list of their purposed Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners with a hope of forming an independent and neutral EC. Former lawmaker and Member-secretary of district Jatiya Party Hossain Mokbul Shahriar Asif, Convener of its Rangpur city unit Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa and Member-secretary S M Yasser, were present, among others.
Secretary General of Jatiya Party ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga, leaders of the district and city units of Jatiya party were present.
