In the wake of the inclement weather along with BPL-4, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) tournament committee postponed the next three-round games of the 18th National Cricket League (NCL) after the end of the initial three-round games last two month back.

The opening-round games amongst the three-round could not roll onto the ground due to the nation-wide downpours and foggy weather. The second and third-round games took place amid the inclement weather.
The board once again released the itinerary for the next three-round games of the league. As per the new schedule, the fourth round games will be held at four different grounds across the country since December 20.
Although players at different teams started their individual practice, Dhaka Metro and Dhaka Division were the first team, who began their training sessions at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday.
Dhaka Metro skipper Marshall Ayub after the conclusion of the practice session spoke to the media, when he said that they see advantage more than the disadvantage of being delayed to start the league.
“There has been of course an advantage for it. We feel comfortable to play in the cricket season. Fitness remains in good shape and play for the longer period,” said Marshall Ayub, who played so far three Tests for Bangladesh after being stepped into the international arena in 2013.
After the conclusion of the initial three-round games, Barisal Division are on pole position of the points table with 23. Dhaka Metro on the other hand placed third with 15 points.
Despite being stayed clear eight points behind Barisal, Metro skipper dreams to lift the league title. The right-handed batsman said that if they could at least draw with the lead of batting and bowling points the champion might then be possible.
“Every team has a goal to be champion. Our team has also target to be league champion. Let’s see what happens” the national discard told media.
“Barisal are ahead of us. The difference of the points is not much wider. The difference is just seven-eight points. If the initial stage matches would be held, the result might then be different,” the top-order batsman said.
“In the next three rounds of games if we could draw with the lead of batting and bowling points then there will be chance for us to be champions,” he added.
All the national team’s players were scheduled to play at least one round games ahead of the concluded home series against England. But the bulk of the players could not play the league. Because at that moment the board abruptly organised a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan prior to the full series against English side due to the security ground.
As a result, the team management released all the preliminary squad players sans the main squad players. And so, some players had got opportunity to play the initial round games.
The 28-year-old Ayub said that the league would be more competitive if the national players could play the games.
“It would be better and more competitive if the players of the national team could play the league. Those, who have remained, have also capability,” Dhaka-born lad thinks.
Dhaka Metro will lock horns with Dhaka Division at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah on December 20.
