Bhola: Ferry services in Bhola-Laxmipur route remained suspended for the last two days due to the collapse of ‘ram plate’ at Moujuchowdhury ferry ghat (quay), causing immense sufferings to the passengers, reports UNB.
Locals said the ‘ram plate’ of a ferry ghat fell apart when an overloaded truck tried to cross it while boarding on a ferry on Wednesday, suspending ferry services in the route.
Abu Alam Hawladar, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport and Corporation’s (BIWTC’s) at Moujuchowdhury ghat office, said an alternative ram would be set up at the ferry ghat on Thursday morning and it will take some time to resume the services.
