A sitting judge of the High Court Justice JN Deb Choudhury died of cancer at Square Hospital in Dhaka yesterday afternoon. He was 51.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told The Independent that Justice Choudhury breathed his last at 4.30pm yesterday at the Square Hospital in Dhaka.
The chief law officer of the state also said that Justice Choudhury left behind his wife, a son and a daughter and a host of admirers to mourn his death.
He also said that his body will take on the Supreme Court premises at 7.30am today and he will be cremated at his home village in Sylhet on the same day, Alam added.
In separate condolence message, law minister Anisul Huq and Law Reporters Forum also expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.
Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, who is now functioning as chief justice of the country, as Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha is now abroad, and other SC judges expressed shock at the death of Justice Choudhury and expressed sympathy to his bereaved family members.
