RANGPUR: Patients at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) continue to suffer for the third consecutive day on Thursday as interns observed an indefinite strike protesting attack on a fellow intern and also the president of Intern Doctors’ Association on the campus.
The authorities have yet to solve the problems. When contacted, Dr Abu Taher Md Anwarul Haque Pramanik, Deputy Director of Rangpur Medical College Hospital, informed the correspondent that problems yet to be solved. He said they will hold a fresh dialogue with both groups of interns on Saturday (December 17). It was informed that due to the strike, patients of the hospital have been suffering a lot.
However, Deputy Director of the hospital, said medical officers, registrars and other medical personnel look after the patients. Mahfuzul Haque Raqib, president of Intern Doctors’ Association of Rangpur Medical College Hospital unit, said they will continue the strike till the accused persons are arrested.
Earlier, two groups of intern doctors led by between Mahfuzul Haque Raqib and Farhan locked into a clash on Monday (December 12) to establish their supremacy at RMCH.
During the clash president of the Interns Doctors’ Association, Rangpur Medical College (RMC) unit, Mahfuzul Haque Raqib along with five others was severely injured and later, they were admitted to the hospital. Protesting at the attack, the Inter Doctors’ Association went on an indefinite strike demanding arrest of the attackers. Additional police have been developed on the campus as tensed situation has been prevailing.
