BNP-backed mayoral candidate Advocate Shakhawat Hossain again demanded the Election Commission deploy army in the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls for holding free and fair elections.
While conducting campaign for Advocate Shakhawat Hossain, BNP central leader Major ( Rtd) Hafiz Uddin said without deploying army, the NCC polls would not be held peacefully.
The BNP candidate also supported the claim of Major( rtd) Hafiz.
Referring to the city corporation polls in Dhaka and Chittagong, the BNP leader alleged that the agents of the BNP candidates were not allowed to enter the polling centers. They were threatened and harassed by the AL leaders.
He also added that in the last NCC polls Selina Hayat Ivy, AL nominated mayoral candidate, also demanded army deployment but now she has changed her position.
If the polls are held neutrally, Shakhawat would definitely win in the NCC polls, he said further. BNP central leaders including BNP organising secretary Fazlul Haque Milon, Narayagnaj City BNP general secretary ATM Kamal, were also present.
