A memorial plague with portraits of 13 Liberation War martyred journalists was unveiled at Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) in the city yesterday, reports BSS.
Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu formally unveiled the plaque on the historic Martyred Intellectuals Day.
Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Principal Information Officer (PIO) AKM Shamim Chowdhury, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, Department of Film and Publication (DFP) Director General Mohammad Liaqat Ali Khan, PIB Director General Shah Alamgir, martyred journalist’s daughter Sami Kaiser and media personnel were present on the occasion, said an official release.
Speaking on the occasion, Hasanul Huq Inu paid profound respect to the memory of the martyred journalists and said the Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators wanted to destroy Bangabandhu and people of this country, including women, intellectuals and journalists.
