While in-form fast bowlers Mohammad Shahid and Shafiul Islam sidelined with injuries, pacer Al Amin Hossain yet again failed to draw the attention of the team management and selectors ahead of the conditioning camp of the Australia and New Zealand series.
Because of his indiscipline act Al Amin could not play any match of the 50-over World Cup Down Under in 2015. Since then he could get chance to play a string of games for the national team.
Before the 2016 BPL T20 tournament, he dropped out of the back-to-back home series against Afghanistan and England though his exclusion drew a huge backlash from all the quarters.
In this BPL, the right-handed paceman produced no effective impact with his cherry that he admitted without making any hesitation.
“I in BPL could not perform as per my standard because I was not in good rhythm. And so I’m trying to regain the form by holding regular gym and practice session. Along with that, I am trying to build up my confidence,” said Al Amin Hossain, who bagged five wickets from five matches for Barisal Bulls.
Now he is waiting for the upcoming tournaments of the National Cricket League (NCL) and Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). If he could perform better performance, the team management may then consider him to give another chance for the national side.
“In last BPL, I had slammed a credible hat-trick alongside I was the second highest wicket-taker. I helped my team win several victories. But this year I played five-six matches, where I could not make any sizzling impact in that way,” Al Amin Hossain said.
“In that case, I have National League and BCL ahead. If I could do bowl well and boost up my confident level then the team management and selectors may think that I should be given a chance. I hope for that if I could do better then I might get a chance,” Hossain told after his gym session yesterday.
“We have so many games ahead against India, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Pakistan. At any time I could get a chance. Preparing myself for those games is a challenge for me now,” he added.
The 26-year-old pacer said that he is practicing regular in an effort to fare well in the upcoming two main domestic competitions.
“Actually we have the games of the National Cricket League (NCL) ahead of us. My planning is mainly for it. If I could perform well, then I will get chance again to play for the national team,” Jhinaidah-born Al Amin thinks.
He believes that if they could give their all-out efforts in every department in New Zealand then the better result may be produced.
“Last one and-half-a-year, the maximum games we played at home condition. We are stronger more at home turf. Our exhibition in batting, bowling and fielding was very good in this condition. In that sense, New Zealand will be a different condition,” the fast bowler said.
“But those who played better in BPL or those who played well our last international games will play better cricket. I think the adaptation will be challenging more on those wickets than playing better cricket,” he also said.
“In Australia, we have training camp and practice games, which I think will give us benefit for us. The strength we have if we could execute completely, the competition will then be better. New Zealand is stronger at their home condition. It will not be sitting duck for us. The strength we have if we could capitalise I think we will then get to see a good competition,” he added.
