Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce in association with Motor Owners’ Association and Shop Owners’Association went on an indefinite strike on Wednesday morning following a clash between two groups of the Chamber on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce leader Moktadur Rahman Mithu said they called the strike protesting the incident.
No long-route vehicle was seen to leave the district town since the morning.
On Tuesday night, eight people were injured in a clash between two groups of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce in the district town on Tuesday night.
Officer-in-charge of Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Mehedi Hasan said two groups of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce locked in an altercation in the morning during their general meeting.
Following the altercation, members of the two groups engaged in a clash in the night when eight of them sustained injuries. Two of the injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
A case was filed with Gaibandha Police Station and police arrested four people in this connection.
