HSBC starts to pay incentive to good borrowers

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in Bangladesh has started recognising its eligible good borrowers for the year 2015 – a directive which was initiated by the Bangladesh Bank.

HSBC has started to pay out the incentive to good borrowers for the first time in Bangladesh. The international financial institution declared to pay the incentives to their best borrowers at a programme, held at a hotel in the capital yesterday. 
In March 2015, with an objective to foster a culture of good repayment, the Bangladesh Bank issued a circular asking all banks to pay back ten percent rebate on realised interest to all good borrowers.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Governor of the Bangladesh Bank S K Sur Chowdhury said every bank has to pay the good borrowers incentive which was set by the Bangladesh Bank. 
If a borrower’s repayment schedule is clean and authentic for 3 years, rebate facilities will be provided, the BB deputy governor also added.
Bangladesh has been facing demographic dividend for the first time since independence. We must be utilising this efficiently. Deputy Governor described at the event.   
Speaking on this occasion Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Bangladesh, Francois de Maricourt, said, “Relationship with our customers has always been our priority and we are proud to have a customer base that are compliant with the banking norms. HSBC is delighted to recognise its eligible good borrowers.”
Maricourt also said   that incentive will help to foster the compliment culture in Bangladesh.  
Deputy CEO and Country Head of Commercial Banking of HSBC Bangladesh Mahbub Ur Rahman said: “As a financial institution, we always aim to foster the business of the good customers. Good borrowers stand on their own merits and not for financial rebate.”
