Intern doctors at Rangpur Medical College Hospital went on an indefinite strike from Tuesday after a clash between two groups of interns on the campus.
Police and eyewitnesses said two groups of intern doctors led by between Mahfuzul Haque Raqib and Farhan locked into a clash on Monday (December 12) to establish their supremacy at RMCH. During the clash president of the Interns Doctors’ Association, RMC unit, Mahfuzul Haque Raqib along with five others was severely injured and later, they were admitted to the hospital. Protesting at the attack, the Inter Doctors’ Association went on an indefinite strike demanding arrest of the attackers.
When contacted Raqib, president intern doctors’ association, said the strike will be continued till arrest of the culprits. But Farhan refused the allegation and said it is false and baseless.
Director of the Rangpur Medical College Hospital ASM Barkatulla said now he is in Dhaka. He got information over the matter. When contacted, Dr Abu Taher Md Anwarul Haque Pradhan, DD Rangpur Medical College Hospital, informed the correspondent that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter. He said the problem will solve very soon. Tense situation has been prevailing on the campus.
